Due to higher education budget cuts in California, the Division of Textiles and Clothing at UC Davis is at a high risk of closing down. Lecturer and Adviser Joan Chandler has said, "The current students will be able to finish their programs as planned. They have been admitting new students into the major...[but] we don't know how many until after the admissions people go through all the applications to choose the top candidates."
