Her striking pose is strong enough to create an impression of a crucifixion given her arms are stretched out and her head is sporting a thorn-like crown. Lohan's white flowing gown is designed by Ungaro and is displayed in a white background to suggest purity and simplicity. Despite Lindsay's simple pose and cover, there are many complications that have upset the public. Religious crowds are angry and ashamed that she is posing as Jesus Christ when she has a history of uncontrollable partying, drug and alcohol abuse, and has served time in jail for driving under the influence.
Bill Dohanhue, head of the Catholic lead stated, "Not only is this pose inappropriate, the timing is offensive," given Catholics were preparing for Ash Wednesday.
Lindsay's publicist goes on telling the public that "she is following in her father Michael’s biblical footsteps- he dressed as Joseph in a Times Square nativity scene a couple of years ago." Irony hovers over this statement as there is still an on going fued between Lindsay and her father. Furthermore, Michael Lohan served a two year sentence in jail for a serious accident caused by driving under the influence of alcohol. Months after his release, Lohan played the role of Joseph in Times Sqaure.
Is this a sign for forgiveness or a start over through a religous pose? Is Lindsay really following her father's biblical footsteps? Or is this just another one of her media sparking photograph for the headlines?
