Due to the recent catastrophic events that occurred in Haiti, I thought it would be great to recognize the apparel companies that have offered their support. Here are just a few companies that have done several things in order to raise money to save Haiti.
Phillips-Van Heusen- The parent company of Calvin Klein, IZOD, ARROW, Van Heusen and Bass has instituted a program that encouraged their associates to donate to a list of organizations helping in the effort to rebuild and save Haiti. For any associate who donates, Phillips-Van Heusen will match the contribution 100%. In addition to the program, the company will make a corporate donation to their corporate spotlight charity, Save The Children.

MAC Cosmetics- The MAC AIDS Fund which regularly supports HIV/Aids-related organizations, gave $125,000 in support grants to three trusted partners in Haiti:Partners in Health, The Clinton Foundation and GHEISKO. These organizations are all working together to provide medical care, food and supplies.
These are just a few of the companies in the fashion industry that are helping in the relief efforts for Haiti. Its wonderful to see an industry that is sometimes considered shallow and egotistical lend a helping hand through all of their donation efforts. Seeing the efforts of these companies makes me want to show my support by choosing these brands over others next time I purchase clothes. We can also make a difference by donating what we can. Text "Haiti" to 90999 and you will have donated $10 to the Red Cross in the effort to save Haiti.
