SO YOU WANNA BE A MODEL?

Here are some quick tips from an E! Online article about being a top model:

1] "Let them do your makeover." These experts are paid to make you look good and what's better is they know what looks good on you. Trust them, trust yourself, and your look, and your modeling skills will take you where you need to go.

2] "Be the villain." I don't know how much I fully agree with this statement but I do believe that one has to be aggressive and passionate enough to survive in the fashion industry or in any real world scenario, for that matter.

3] "Dress like a model." A tank + skinny jeans + heels = the perfect formula. Wearing these for go-sees and when you're just out and about means you're showing what you're all about, without trying too hard. Don't overload on the trends--dress simple, yet stylish.

4] "Do the photo shoot even when you're sick." Taking care of yourself is important but staying in the game is also important. Do what you can to show you're passionate and qualified to do the job.

5] "Have an emotional story." Don't be a Debbie Downer or Sobbing Sandy, but do have an interesting story to tell. Though models are two-dimensional in magazine spreads, it doesn't mean they have to be one-sided in real life.

Being a model is a dream that's not out of reach. Scouts discover guys and girls every day but you can be proactive and put your dreams into motion as well. ModelMayhem is a great starting point to finding local photographers and fashion shows. Check out local boutiques, student fashion associations, or public bulletins as other sources of information for upcoming shows or shoots. So start lookin' and maybe I'll see you in the next issue of Elle Magazine or even just walking down a local runway!
