It's amazing what you can find in your grandma's closet. I always discover one in a million treasures that she is more than happy to pass down. One of my favorite finds is this three-piece scalloped knit skirt suit, it's gorgeous! Though it is a little on the dressy side and traditionally used at our big family weddings, I thought it was a waste letting it hang in her closet, never to see the light of day. Hence, why I happily took the outfit and have been wearing each piece interchangeably.
The shoulder-padded jacket and shell tank are not pictured but they are definitely gorgeous and spruce up any outfit. For this specific outfit post, I needed to be economically efficient and time-friendly. I'm a broke college student and the timing of banquet and midterm seasons are not forgiving. The remedy to my fashion dilemma? I used the skirt as a long tube dress!
During the day, I wore it conservatively to accommodate my work environment:
1] Pink pinstripe blazer | Gap $0 (hand-me down)
2] Knit skirt turned tube dress | Grandma's closet $0
3] Tan waist belt | Dior $5 (thrifted)
4] Black (should've been brown) sandals | Urban Outfitters $20
During the night, I let my inner glamourite out for the banquet:
1] Tan gladiator heels | Chinese Laundry $35
*To achieve this look, I added some depth to my makeup, let my hair down, ditched the conservative pieces, and hiked up the dress with some help from the belt.
Remember, you don't need to spend just to solve your fashion problems. All you need is an eye for good pieces, creativity, and some confidence to make it all work. Hope this post gives you a wallet-friendly and fashionable boost! Ciao for now!
