TOM FORD EYEWEAR

I have to say, Tom Ford is one of my favorite and, in my opinion, one of the best eye wear designers. He became very well-known after his big turnaround of the Gucci fashion house during a 1995 collection that was filled with brightly colored blazers, disco satin shirts, and hip huggers - a dramatic change in fashion that happened "overnight". Tom's collection brought worldwide awareness of contemporary power play which secured Gucci's billion dollar empire. But, the one thing Tom Ford contributed that no one else dared to do was bring sexuality into ads, as he was established the master of the "sex sells" approach to high end products.

During Ford's early years, he attended Parsons The New School for Design and graduated with a degree in interior architecture. Since then, he interned for Chloe in Paris for half a year and worked as a design assistant for Hardwick for two years. He grew tired of American fashion and decided to work in Europe because he stated that too much style in America is tacky and Europeans appreciate style.

In 1999, Gucci was over shadowed by Mello and almost went bankrupt. When Ford came into the picture, the company value was $4.3 billion and $19 billion when he left the company in 1994. Ford's amazing talent drove up sales like never before after bringing back old styles and creating them to a never before seen style. When Gucci acquired the house of Yves Saint-Laurent, Ford was named he creative director of YSL.

Ford launched his own line, Tom Ford, in 2004. In that same year, Ford partnered up with Estee Lauder to create the TOM FORD beauty brand which includes eyewear and fragrance collections. Since then, Ford has received numerous fashion awards from the most beautiful people to Council of Fashion Designers in America. He has achieved everything that he had dreamed of, even directing the movie, A Single Man, and continues to pursue his impressive careers.
