THE COOL KIDS

With the limited supply of clothing stores in Davis, I find myself spending more money on yummy meals rather than new clothes. However, I recently discovered a great shopping tip from Ely: shop in the KID’S SECTION. Trust me, I’m not as petite as Ely, but I’ve picked up some really adorable jackets from Gap’s kids’ department.

Rachel Bilson was even spotted sporting one of the little boy's jackets I bought:

When you live in a small town like ours you have to try really hard to “make it work,” as Tim Gunn would say. Look in other departments such as men’s, old ladies’, or even kids’ and see how creative you can get!

FEATHER HEADBANDS

Stylish, cute, multi-colored, and found in almost any accessories stores these days, feathered headbands provide a cute and edgy look to the simplest outfits and add something special to fancier outfits. Below are just a few celebrity citings. Also, if you're looking for some shopping inspiration, shopstyle has a great variety of feathered headbands selected from various retail stores (listed with retail store and price), making it a great place to get ideas and see what's out there!

DAVID BECKHAM: INJURED, YET STYLISH

Despite the fact that David Beckham is not able to play in the World Cup because of an injury to his achilles heeel, he keeps his head up and dresses like nothing ever happened. Beckham struts his swag while on crutches in a full navy suit with a midnight blue skinny tie. He never ceases to fail. He is the man, Just Saying.

BOAT SHOES FOR SPRING 2010

On numerous occasions people have told me that they like my shoes. While grabbing my pregnant food craving of the week, I was complimented by a friend about my Sperry’s boat shoes. It’s no lie that Sperry’s are pretty stylish. This kind of shoe stems from those used by old boatmen who probably wouldn’t expect their signature shoes to become so widely known. I’ll admit, when I was younger I was disgusted by that style, but my personal style changes every day and trends come and go. Now you see rappers like Kanye West and Pharrell sporting these shoes for the uproar of “hypeness” which in consequence will trickle down to the streets becoming a “hypebeast” piece of clothing.

Since styles/fashion tend to “share” ideas, NDC has come out with a Spring/Summer 2010 line for their boat shoes, similar to Sperry's. This new stylish pattern attracts the eye like no other so be ready to receive compliments. I know I'm set to grab it off the shelves in time for summer school.

I wear it because it has my name in it and its comfortable.... Just saying.

TOMS SHOES

I've been walking around our lovely Davis campus much more now that the weather is cheering up and have been seeing more and more TOMS shoes. Anyone else notice a new trend? They're the new generic slip-on shoe---fashionable and for a good cause (for every pair purchased one is donated to a child in need). Here's the website for you to check out: http://www.toms.com
I just got my 1st pair and they're incredibly comfortable!

PUT A RING ON IT

It’s a fact: I’m absolutely obsessed with wearing rings. When I was younger I used to wear them religiously and would even get green fingers (advice: don’t buy fake jewelry) or odd-looking tan lines. Over the years I’ve built up my stash with colorful baubles, the trendy two-finger ones, borrowed goodies from my mom’s closet, and a handful of other little trinkets.
But my newest favorite is Melody Ehsani’s Watch Ring.

Practical, affordable, and cute, what more could you ask for? And don’t be afraid to try this trend out as well, boys! You can see Lupe Fiasco rocking them here.

AND THE WINNER IS...

Last Thursday Lifetime’s Project Runway Season 7 winner was chosen and it was a close call. The three finalists, Emilio Sosa, Mila Hermanovski, and Seth Aaron Henderson showed their final looks on the runway during New York fashion week in Bryant Park. They exposed their true selves while at the same time creating timeless pieces that could be worn straight off the runway. As the judges deliberated, the contestants waited patiently. Heidi Klum announced Seth Aaron as the winner, and I could not help but let out a sigh of relief! Here are some of Seth Aaron’s winning looks.

ZAC POSEN FOR TARGET: FROM RUNWAY TO REALITY

I woke up at 7:45 am on Sunday (yes, on a Sunday) and drove to my local Target in search of designer Zac Posen's new limited edition line for the company. I have been a huge fan of Zac Posen for quite some time now and you can imagine how excited I was to find out that his designs were becoming a little bit more accessible to someone who cannot necessarily afford one of his official pieces. Posen's line from Target incorporates some of his signature silhouettes along with some new items all designed specifically for the Target shopper. The line is limited edition and is selling out fast (the explanation as to why I was awake at 7:45 am) and could not have satisfied my expectations any more. I wish I could have purchased everything, but sadly only was able to afford two items. Here is a taste of some of the designs being sold now. The first two dresses are the ones I went home with!
