One of my favorite past-times is reading fashion blogs. Everything from the gorgeous fashion photography of JAK & JILL to the coveted clothes owned by Cupcakes and Cashmere blogger Emily Schuman. Although I enjoy spending hours on end reading about clothes and fashion, there is one blog that stands out to me as something to aspire to become, since I am a new blogger myself. The Sartorialist is such a blog. Scott Schuman, author of The Sartorialist blog, not only does his own photography, but he also incorporates an eye that sees part fashion and part art. His photographs capture not only the physical aspect of fashion but show how fashion makes people feel and how fashion is something different to every individual as well. Needless to say, I admire the man and his work a great deal. In November of last year, he had a book signing for his newly released book of collected photographs in San Francisco and my roommate and I drove two hours into the city to be there. After we got there however, we saw that we were clearly not the only ones there. After standing in line for about three hours with some of the most beautiful and well-dressed individuals I have ever seen, it was finally my turn to meet the Satorialist and get him to sign my new edition of his book. Meeting one of my fashion icons was a very surreal experience and I will cherish it forever. He was kind and enthusiastic to all of his fans and I greatly admire his charm and class. I will hold my signed copy of his book as one of my most treasured objects for a long time to come.
