HELLO KITTY

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Sanrio, Hello Kitty and other designs from the Japanese character factory Sanrio, go on display at "Small Gift Los Angeles" from Nov. 12 to 21 at the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica.The main draw is the art exhibition with nearly a dozen installation rooms and about 100 pieces bythe likes of Paul Frank and Gary Baseman.

So, why Hello Kitty? you ask..
According to the show curator Jamie Rivandeneira most of the artists could identify with the "cute culture community" which is "fueled by childhood nostalgia and has a positivity that remains undiminished in an increasingly complicated world."
Hello Kitty has no emotions, so she is in fact a blank canvas that you can project any type of situation or emotion onto.
